Bradley Jansen agreed to take home R12000 for first place in the Concept Grand Slam on Sunday.
There was a three-way split among the final 3, which saw Bradley (centre) stand as the overwhelming chip leader.
Wang, as he’s affectionately known, recorded all the eliminations on final table to build the notable big stack.
A great run, especially when you consider he wasn’t intentionally going to play the tournament, but jumped in late and was able to enjoy a game-winning run to first place.
He was happy to accept a depreciated R12000 cash prize for first, while Bentley Louw (R10 000, right) and Wesley Wessels (R8000, left) took home a handsome return for 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Overall, it was an entertaining tournament with enjoyable slow grind blinds that saw the game end just after 9PM. With 36 players entered, we had an exciting R41200 prize pool on the line!
And with the new Concept chairs, even the bad beats felt better during a great Sunday of poker. 😅
Marco Botha enjoyed a slow and steady grind to final table, but he was coolered in 4th place. In blind versus blind action, he shoved over the top of Bradley’s small blind raise with pocket 7s. Bradley made the call and tabled pocket 8s for the preflop lead, and held up.
Dylan Hughes was battling well with the short stack, and was rebuilding momentum. But he was dealt a cruel blow when he was all in with Queens. Bradley – who couldn’t miss a hand – tanked before making a big call with A3. He flopped the Ace to score a big knockout and see Dylan fall out in 5th.
Two bubble prizes were created for 6th and 7th places, which were claimed by Gareth Duncan and Cas du Toit respectively.
Tony Smith was the unfortunate bubble boy, but he earns extra Player of the Year points for making final table.
WELL DONE WINNERS!
The next live game will be the ever-popular R600 Turbo on Thursday night.
Then Concept will be organising a trip to Melkbos for some West Coast poker on Sunday. Stay tuned for details.
