VICKY EXTENDS LEAD AT CONCEPT PEAK

Vicky Moodley took first place at Concept Midweek Game #13 – which stretched his lead at the top of the overall standings.

While it was only Vicky’s second tourney win of the year, it was his seventh final table showings out of 14 Concept appearances this season (including 13 Midweek Games and 1 Quarterly).

This all came after a hot streak among the final 9, which had more twists, turns and bad beats than a damaged 90s rave CD.

Concept debutant Rica van Niekerk had an impressive first showing, but the fairytale run was cut short when she was eliminated in 9th. She lost most of her chips to Lee-Ann Olivier on an action flop of K♠️ 10♦️J♦️. Rica held KQ♦️suited for top pair and an up-and-down straight flush draw against Lee-Ann’s K♣️J♠️, which held up as the turn and river bricked. Rica lost the rest of her chips soon thereafter.

Chad Moolman, also making his Concept debut, earned the bubble prize in 7th place thanks to a bad beat. After raising in early position, Vicky was met with a big all-in shove from Chad. Following some deliberation, Vicky made the call with Q10♦️suited, while Chad showed 6s. After another safe, low flop, Vicky spiked the Q on the turn to send Moolies to the rail.

Short stack Nevin Govender finished in 7th due to another bad beat. He pushed all in with 7s and was hesitantly called by Terry Hangone’s 10-7 off in the big blind. After a low, safe flop, Terry spiked the 10 on the turn to send Nevin home.

Kyle Heldsinger finished in sixth place for his second final table showing this month, before Shane Solomons was eliminated in fifth as his A4 shove with the small stack was snapped off by Terry’s AJ in the big blind and held.

That’s when crazy plays started to happen…

With an overwhelming chip lead, Terry pushed all in with A8 in the small blind against Lee-Ann, who was second in chips. She snap called with 7s… over 2 million chips in the pot. Lee-Ann flopped a 7 for trips and Terry lost a big portion of his stack.

Shortly thereafter, Dylan Barnard made a questionable play in a three-way pot against Vicky and Leanne. The flop ran 6❤️4♠️2♠️. Dylan, in first position, pushed all in with a big stack, and was surprised to receive a quick call from Vicky. Lee-Ann folded. Dylan showed A2 ❤️ suited, while Vicky tabled A6♠️ suited, which hit the nut flush on the turn, eliminating Dylan in 4th.

Terry followed shortly thereafter in third, before Lee-Ann and Vicky agreed to split the pot. After a few exchanges, Vicky eventually won first place with AK.
