Ubuntu House, a baby shelter based in Goodwood, was grateful to receive a R4000 hamper donated by the Concept Poker Charity Fund.
Ubuntu House takes care of babies from birth to two years, who have been abandoned, orphaned, neglected or who were born out of an unplanned and crisis pregnancy.
Since the house opened its doors to the first baby in 2003, they have cared for more than 550 children. And thanks to its carers, over 400 babies have been placed with adoptive parents.
The Concept Poker Charity Fund hamper donated to the organisation included 968 Pampers Newborn nappies (eleven 88-packs), eight Infacare Formulas and four Epizone-E ointments.
“All the carers were so happy to see us and really appreciated our donation. They said it will help them for a long time, which is fantastic because baby nappies and other necessities are very expensive,” said Concept Committee member Kershnee Julie.
“We even got a tour of the home and spent time with the babies. It’s really heart-warming to know that Concept has been able to make a difference.
“Thanks to all the Concept Poker players for the support. This would not be possible without it.”
