Stephen Courtney (pictured right) played his way to first place in the R600 Turbo at Concept Social Poker Club on Thursday.
With the notable big stack, Stephen agreed to a deal which saw him earn R8000 for gold. The original first prize was set at R8800.
It’s another good result for Stephen, who’s enjoying a stellar year of poker in 2022 – which includes a R100k plus score at the Monsterjam Main Event.
Sean Botes (who enjoyed his second successive cash in the R600 Turbo) and Nicklas Pillay (who’s shown great form since moving down from Durban) agreed to take home R4700 each for second and third place respectively.
Imraan Khan finished in 4th place as he shoved with 910 ♠️ suited. He got called off by Stephen, who held up with pocket 4s.
Strini Govender ended in 5th place as he was trapped by Stephens with Kings. Strini checked in the big blind with K3. After both players checked a AK3 flop, Strini shoved after a Jack hit the Turn. Stephen snap called with top set for the pot.
Allan Ranzani finished in 6th place as he was struggling with the short stack, and couldn’t find the double up.
Cliton Taliwanth and Nigel Heldsinger fell short of the money, but made the final table for valuable Player of the Year points.
All in all, we had 38 players entered, creating a prize pool of R23400!
