STEPHEN CATCHES TOP CASH IN R600 TURBO!

Stephen Courtney played his way to first place in the R600 Turbo at Concept on Thursday night.

He was last man standing in a field of 43 players, which created a prize pool of R27800!

The victory earned him R8500 in cash – a decent return on a good night’s grind. It’a his second R600 Turbo victory in September.

He caught valuable pots late in the game to build a decent stack, and used this to good advantage against his opponents on final table.

His patient approach in the heads-up battle set up the win, as he folded to big bets from Brad Spaans early on. The tournament-deciding hand saw him all in on a draw before fortuitously catching a King-high straight on the Turn to beat the latter’s flopped two pair.

Strini Govender got a bad beat to fall out in third place. He found himself all in and ahead with K8 ❤️ suited as he shoved into Stephen’s small blind raise. Steve tanked before making an audacious call with 106, being slightly pot-committed. And he managed to spike a 6 on the Turn to score the knockout.

Donavan Driver, who’s a fresh face on the live poker scene, enjoyed an entertaining ride to 4th place – even standing as chip leader at one point. Although behind in a few races, he managed to shoot ahead as the boards fell in his favour. But he eventually ran into Stephen‘s hot form, who flopped trip Jacks with KJ.

Herman Nelissen played well to make final table, but an unfortunate cooler cost him his tournament life. He shoved AK into Brad’s Aces to fall out in 5th place.

Keegan Florence was out in 6th place when he was all in with A9 ♠️ suited against Stephen’s Jacks. Steve flopped a set to take down the hand.

A bubble prize was created for 7th place, which was taken by Terry Hangone. Terry was all in with K10 against Donavan’s AQ, and flopped the King to shoot ahead. Donavan flopped the Queen, and turned the Ace to win the hand with two pair.

Clinton Reddy went out in typically dramatic fashion on the money bubble in 8th place.

Donavan shoved early on with AJ, and was called by Herman with pocket 8s. Clinton made it a three-way pot as he was all in with AK.

The flop ran out 1085, to see Herman miles ahead with middle set. The Turn hit a Q and a River 9 gave Donavan a 4-card straight for a big triple up.

However, Herman won a major side pot as he out-chipped Clinton with his set of 8s.
