Shane Solomons rallied to the first place during Concept Midweek Game #15 on Thursday night at Goodwood Cricket Club.
In another entertaining night of social poker, which saw 48 players enter the tourney, Shane Solomons was last man standing in what was his first Concept victory. Having made four final table appearances before, this triumph shoots him up on the overall log and places him among the title contenders.
There was plenty of action on the final table, which saw Keegan Florence eliminated first. He shoved his stack with AQ, which ran into Kyle Crowie’s pocket Aces. Keegan had some hope with a straight draw, but the river bricked to send him home in 9th.
Dean van der Merwe was out in 8th with a bad beat. His all in with Js got cracked by Robin Kayalsum’s A6 off. After hitting the small pair on the flop, Robin turned a set of 6s to send Dean to the rail.
Edwin Barlow was out in 7th as his chips got low. He went all in with A5, and got called by Mujahid Fredericks in late position with K7. Mujahid flopped two pair, which ended Eddie’s tournament run.
Mujahid did the damage again with a king in hand, this time KJ ♠️ suited to eliminate Robin (Q10 ❤️ suited) in 6th. Robin missed the board totally which saw him lose to the high card.
Brian Minnaar found a good spot with Aces when he shoved all in on the table. He was called by Shakeel Soopee, who tabled K10 and was dominated. Brian’s Aces held up strongly to send Shakeel home in 5th.
Brian’s fortunes changed when he suffered a bad beat against Mujahid, who just couldn’t miss. With an all-in-and-call action preflop, Brian was ahead with A9 against Mujahid’s A2. But the 2 flopped to see Brian end fourth.
This is when Shane’s momentum kicked in…
Shane got lucky with A3 ❤️ suited against Kyle’s AQ off. Although dominated preflop, the hearts saw a river flush eliminate Kyle in third.
Shane and Mujahid then agreed to split the pot and play for first place, which saw Shane come out tops with K6 ❤️ suited in the title-defining hand.
