Robin Kayalsum ran hot on final table to secure first place at Concept Midweek Game #1 in Maitland on Thursday night.
It was a fantastic start to the league!
Over 40 players gathered across six full tables as organisers surprised the field with new custom Concept chips. We also introduced the new self service coffee and tea table, available for free to all players.
This was all made possible through your support in 2019, and this was repaid by an enjoyable night of social poker all round.
A tough grind saw a mix of new faces and regulars fight out to make the Final 9.
FINAL TABLE REPORT:
9th place Jerry Sweetnam
Jerry did well to make his way to final table, but found himself short on chips. After raising the hand preflop, he shoved on all in with AJ on a dry flop. Robin Kayalsum called after connecting with a bottom pair of 3s, which beat A-high for the knockout.
8th place: Preston Jonas
Preston was very unlucky in his last hand in the tourney. He got it in good with AQ, dominating Robin, who called with Q3 ♣️ suited. But Robbie was running hot, making a flush to take down the pot.
7th place: Shane Davids
Shane Davids was the unfortunate bubble boy as he fell one place short of the money. He was all in with K10, and found himself racing against Terry Hangone’s pocket 9s. Shane failed to connect with the board and hit the rail.
6th place: Jason Fried
Jason Fried found himself ahead preflop with A4 ♠️ suited in all-in pot against Naytan Beukes, who tabled KQ. But on a Q-high board, Naytan sealed the pot and the knockout with top pair.
5th place: Terry Hangone
Terry Hangone pushed all in with J10 ♦️ suited, and was called by Biran Beukes, who held A3. Terry couldn’t find the board as Biran hit a 3 for the pot win.
4th place: Naytan Beukes
Naytan made a move with QJ ❤ suited, and was called by Robin holding K7. The latter managed to hit a full house to seal another elimination.
3rd place: Earl Williams 🥉
Earl Williams was one of the newbies who showed up for the season opener and impressed with his run to 3rd place. He was knocked out holding A4 against Robbie’s A10, with the latter hitting two pair.
2nd place: Biran Beukes 🥈
In a heads-up battle, Biran shoved all in with K6 against Robin, who had J10 ♣️ suited. Robin spiked the J to take down the tourney.
1st place: Robin Kayalsum 🥇
