Robin Kayalsum secured back-to-back Concept tourney wins when he took down Midweek Game #2 in Maitland on Thursday night.
It’s been a good two weeks of poker for Robin.
He won the Concept season opener last week, and followed that with a decent finish at the Sharks game on Monday.
He continued his run good at Concept Midweek Game #2, outlasting another 40-player field to take top prize.
In a league twist, he survived the bounty hunts, which gives him 4 bonus log points – awarding him a maximum jump on top of the table. It’s ironic that he’s a staunch Liverpool supporter.
Overall, it was a great night of poker, which saw 40 players (including the two on-duty committee members) grind their way to final table.
FINAL TABLE REPORT
9th place: Jeremy Jodamus
A fortuitous double-up among the final 10 saw Jeremy sneak into final table with just 2 big blinds. He was all in with AJ, and got called by both Robin (small blind) with 53 ♠️ suited and Terry Hangone (big blind) with A5. A dry board saw Robbie take down the pot with a lowly pair of 3s.
8th place: Magnus Koekemoer
Magnus had a bit of a rollercoaster ride during the latter stages of the tourney, but it came to an end when he made a short-stack move with J7 ♠️ suited. His all in was called by Reza Slamang, who tabled A10 and hit the Ace on the River.
7th place: Reza Slamang
With 6 cash prizes and no deals made, it was a tough grind among the final 7. And unfortunately the bubble popped on Reza, who shoved in late position with K8. Robbie woke up in the big blind with AJ and made the call, holding up with Ace high to score the knockout.
6th place: Biran Beukes
Biran Beukes moved all in with A9 and ran into Robin, who snapped with AK. Both the King and 9 flopped, giving Robbie the pot win.
5th place: Terry Hangone
It was another deep run for Terry, who was making back-to-back final tables. His run came to an end when he was all in with KJ, and got called by Clinton Blanchard with A8. The latter spiked an 8 to win the chips.
4th place: Bentley Louw
Bentley was all in with Q7 as he was the short stack, and ran into Clinton Blanchard, who tabled Kings. An all-spade flop brought a 4-card flush draw for Bentley, but Clinton’s Cowboys held up.
3rd place: Clinton Blanchard
Clinton Blanchard started final table with one of the short stacks, but did well to build a big stack and reach the final 3. But his run came to an end after losing a few big hands, and he was eventually all in with 32 ♥️ suited. Clinton Reddy called with 8s and held up.
2nd place: Clinton Reddy
Clinton Reddy was a 2-1 chip leader at the start of heads-up, but Robbie got a major double up early on with pocket 2s versus A8. Clinton was all in with A6 shortly thereafter, and Robbie called with Q8 ♠️ suited. Robbie hit trip Queens on the flop – vital as the the Ace turned for Clinton, which proved to be inconsequential.
WELL DONE TO ALL THE WINNERS!
