Ramees Miller’s late double-ups on final table set up his victory at the first Concept Poker warm-up tourney in Maitland on Thursday night.
With six players left, Ramees was on the brink of elimination as he found himself all in with K9 against Dylan Barnard’s A8. But he spiked a 9 on the flop to take down a crucial pot. That bit of fortune swung momentum on final table.
Thereafter, he managed to take down crucial hands, securing a few eliminations along the way, playing his way into the chip lead and first place.
A good result for Ramees as he triumphed in a tough field of 31 players.
Final table report
9th: Vicky Moodley
It was another final table for the 2019 Concept Poker League champion, but unfortunately he made a critical misstep early on. In UTG +2, Vicky shoved all in with A8, and received a snap call by Jeremy Jodamus, who tabled Qs. In typical Vicky fashion, he hit an Ace in the window, part of a AJ10 flop. But the King turned, giving Jemma the straight.
8th: Jeremy Jodamus
As Vicky exited, Jemma followed suit shortly thereafter. Kyle Crowie shoved all his chips in early position with 10s, which received a call from Jermey, who tabled AK this time. A classic race. However, the pair held up on a Q-high board and Jeremy was eliminated.
7th place: Alain Govender
Alain Govender was the unfortunate bubble boy as he was victim in a three-way all-in pot. He shoved UTG with KJ off, which saw Gareth Duncan (with Queens) move all in over the top. Reza Slamang snap called with AK ♥️ suited. On a 9-high board, Gareth secured a healthy pot and the knockout.
6th place: Reza Slamang
The final 6 agreed to create a bubble for 6th place. Without much chips behind him after the three-way pot, Reza shipped the last of his stack with 103 ♦️ suited. He got called by Dylan Barnard, who showed AK and won with A high.
5th place: Dylan Barnard
Dylan sent himself to the rail as he made a move at the wrong time against Ramees. On a Q♦️8♦️8♠️ flop, Ramees checked before Dylan shoved all in. Ramees called, holding A5 ♦️ suited for the nut flush draw. Although Ramees was still chasing, he was surprisingly ahead with Ace high as Dylan tabled K10 off. A diamond fell on the River, sealing Dylan’s exit in 5th place.
4th place: Magnus Koekemoer
Magnus enjoyed a good run on form during the earlier stages of the tourney, building a decent stack, but he unfortunately found himself card dead on final table. He was eventually all in with K10 against Kyle Crowie’s A9. Ace high was enough on a dry board.
Final 3 agree a deal
With the blinds edging higher, the final 3 managed to broker a deal, which sees Ramees take down first pace!
Well done to all the winners!
