Nathaniel Beukes opened his Concept account on a victorious note as he won Midweek Game #23 in Goodwood on Thursday.
Nathaniel Beukes struck gold in only his second Concept tournament appearance of the season, outlasting a field of 51 players.
While Imraan Khan and Franklin Jodamus did the early damage on final table, Nathaniel shifted into top gear at the right time to surge to the tourney triumph.
Samier Jamodien was the first causality among the final 9 as he made a move with QJ. His all-in was called by Lauren Darvall, tabling A6, which held up and scored the knockout.
Rafal Wykurz was making his Concept debut and did well to reach final table on his first run. Unfortunately, he got coolered to finish in 8th. After Imraan flopped a set of 3s, the turn and river both hit 4s, giving Rafal trips with K4. Imraan laid the trap, which saw Rafal fall to the full house.
Dylan Barnard was short on chips and he went all in with Q2. He was called by Imraan, who had him dominated with Q5. The board ran dry, giving Immie the pot, while Dylan exited in 7th.
Lauren made a move with 76, but had bad timing as she ran into Franklin’s pocket 9s. The over-pair held up, sending Lauren home in 6th. It was a valiant effort from the only lady on the final table as she made max value from her free buy-in entry – thanks to the Concept Women’s Day Free Buy-In Promotion.
Rashaad Osendorp was next to hit the rail in 5th place as he shipped with K9 ♦ suited. He got called by Franklin, tabling A10, which held up. Jason Fried also got short on chips and was eliminated in 4th by Franklin.
Imraan, making his ninth final table appearance of the season, was out in 3rd in bad beat fashion. With the play being three-handed, he went all in with K8. He received a loose call from Nathaniel, who held Q2 and spiked the Queen to eliminate Immie.
Nathaniel and Franklin played heads-up, which saw the former take down the tournament with A7.
