MR CHETTY RUNS HOT TO TAKE TOP SPOT!

Francis Chetty enjoyed victory in the Concept Grand Slam at the Cape Town Poker Room on Sunday.

The weekend fixtures provide higher stakes tournaments, which offer great value in terms of prize money versus the size of the field.

And this was evident when 40 players entered the Concept Grand Slam to create a prize pool of R56400. With R16000 originally provisioned for first place.

Francis was crowned champ of the day as the fixture ended in a three-way ICM split.

Francis accepted R13500 for gold with the notable chip lead (5.7 million), while Bradley Vraagom (2.9 million) and Gareth Duncan (2.1 million) agreed to second (R11500) and third place (R11000) respectively.

Bradley won his seat via the R80 satellite, which puts a huge return on his cash prize.

A juicy chop among the Top 3 proved how ICM advantage is important on final table.

Cliton Taliwanth continued his good form on the live scene, making another final table to finish in 4th place. He lost most of his chips with A9 ♥️ suited against Gareth’s pocket 7s, which hit a set. He was then all in with 43 against Bradley Kings. The 4 hit on the flop, but the bigger pair held.

We wish the likes of Cliton and Nick Gara well as they head up to Sibaya later this week for the upcoming SunBet Poker Series in Durban.

Cas du Toit and Chris Gin were eliminated in 5th and 6th place respectively as Gareth scored a double knockout on the shortstacks. The latter made the correct call with Ace-high, which held up on a dry board.

Mike Harris finished in 7th place as he had bad timing with Jacks, running into Cliton’s pocket Kings.

Bubble prizes were cut up for 8th and 9th places, which meant the entire final table was in the money. These were collected by Francis Vanderlinden and Tony Smith respectively.

WELL DONE WINNERS!

We are finalising the major events for the 2023 live schedule at our new venue. We hope to announce this in the next week or two.

Stay tuned for some exciting updates!
