LYLE GRABS GOLD IN R600 TURBO SPLIT!

Lyle Julien finished in first place in the R600 Turbo #13 at the Cape Town Poker Room on Thursday night.

Lyle boasted the biggest stack, giving himself ICM advantage as the tournament ended in a three-way split.

He gained this advantage thanks to a big pot with Kings against Gareth’s AJ, which went all-in preflop in blind-on-blind action. A nice jump up from short stack to chip leader for him.

Lyle and Gareth agreed to R6600 for gold and silver respectively, while Reza Slamang accepted R6000 in third place.

It was another good tournament result for Gareth as the 2022 Player of the Year enjoyed his third cash in two weeks.

Aladdin de Beer finished in 4th place as he suffered a bad beat with pocket Jacks. He shoved the Hooks on a Q64 board with 2 hearts, as Gareth made a hero call (having completed the preflop raise from big blind). He regrettably tabled K6 before spiking the King on the River to score the knockout with two-pair.

Sachin Naidoo, representing the U35 Fry’s Club, did well to reach 5th place. He had bad timing when shoving with KQ into Lyle’s Kings, which flopped his opponent dead with top set.

As two bubble prizes were negotiated, Reza did the damage against the shorter stacks earlier on final table.

American visitor Terry Steele enjoyed a deep run in his first poker tournament in Cape Town. Unfortunately his grind was brought to a halt when he was all in with AJ versus Reza’s pocket 5s. The board ran 85348 to give the latter a full house.

Reza then scored a double knockout with Pocket 9s against Chrissy de Canha (A5 ♦️ suited) and Clinton Reddy (78), which saw them end in 7th and 8th place respectively.

Julie Ramos took her notable online form to the live scene as she enjoyed a deep run to 9th place. She got unlucky with AQ on a QJ10 flop, which saw Lyle flop a straight and turn a flush with 98 ♦️ suited.

WELL DONE WINNERS!

There will be a game at the Cape Town Poker Rook on Sunday.
