JEMMA STRIKES GOLD AT CONCEPT QUARTERLY

Jeremy Jodamus got a big monkey off his back by finally earning his first tournament win of the season at Concept Quarterly Game #3 in Goodwood on Sunday.

As a staunch Scouser, Jeremy’s form this season emulated the Liverpool side of the late 1990s and early 2000s: showing plenty of promise, but experiencing notable bad runs on final tables.

But like Jurgen Klopp has managed to do in recent seasons, Jeremy built the necessary form in recent weeks to earn championship recognition. And it couldn’t come at a more crucial time where the league is concerned.

Jeremy played a solid game at the Concept Quarterly, and paired with a bit of good fortune, he was able to take down the title – earning him double league points. This shoots him up the log from 17th place into the Top 5.

Imraan Khan, who finished second, also made important ground as he cut Vicky Moodley’s log lead to just 3 league points.

With just 7 fixtures left, this will make for an exciting final stretch to the 2019 Concept Poker Club season. This includes 6 Midweek Games and one more Quarterly Game – dubbed the Grand Finale – on 1 December.

All in all, it was a great day of poker, with 42 players entering the tourney. And it required a tough grind for the players to eventually reach the final table.

Franklin Jodamus was the first elimination as he boxed with the small stack. Franky shoved with A2, but ran into Clint Solomons, who snapped him off with Kings. The big pair managed to hold up to send Franklin home in 9th.

Nathan Beukes was next to hit the rail in 8th place when he lost a race with AQ against Jeremy’s pocket 9s. Jemma pushed Nathan all in after his initial raise, which saw all the chips go into the middle. But the over cards bricked against the pair on a dry board.

And Reza Slamang was the eventual bubble boy when his pocket 9s were cracked by Clint’s AK. Reza raised from early position before Clint shoved over the top on big blind. Reza called and got crushed by a King on the River.

Basil Naicker was eliminated in 6th place when he shoved all in under the gun with A8. All the players folded until play reached Jeremy in the big blind, and he made the call with pocket 3s, which held up for the knockout.

Nathaniel Beukes was the next player to exit in 5th place in bad beat circumstances. As the short stack, he pushed all in with Kings, and got called by Jeremy in the big blind, tabling 85 ♥️ suited. The board saw Jeremy hit a straight, cracking the big pocket pair.

Clint Solomons was next to hit the rail in 4th place when his AQ couldn’t hit on a dry board. He entered an all-in race with Sive Kobe, who tabled Jacks and held up.

Sive then got eliminated in third place when he became the short stack. On the button, he was all in with K2, and received two callers in Jeremy (A8) and Imraan (K9). On a dry board, Ace High was good enough to take the pot.

In the heads-up battle, Jeremy took down the tourney when Immie shoved with J7 into the big blind, only for Jemma to wake up with Queens. After the snap call, he hit a set on the flop to win the hand and the tournament.
