Patrick Perez played his way to first place in the R600 Turbo on Thursday night.
It was another great night of live poker at Concept as 43 players entered the tourney, creating a prize pool of R28200!
Patrick, who is fresh off winning a MJPT Main Event seat for Boardwalk in a recent satellite, continued his good form as he was last man standing in a tough field.
He beat Robin Kayalsum in the heads-up battle, spiking top pair with Q9 to take down the tournament.
It was a big upset as Robbie had built up a massive chip lead during final table, turning the short stack into the chip leader. But Patrick stole the spotlight late in the game.
Ronica Chetty – who was one of two women on final table – enjoyed a deep run to finish in 3rd place. She shoved all in with 7s, and got called off by Robin, who tabled A2 ♥️ suited. The latter flopped a flush draw, but an Ace on the turn was enough for the elimination.
Carol Botes also represented the ladies as she finished in 4th place. Our favourite Durban visitor (Tim a close second) always finds it at Concept whenever she’s in town, including the recent Top 4 finish in the CT Poker Open.
She looked good for the win as she had most of the chips at one point, but a bad run of cards saw her fall short of a bigger cash. She had a big cooler running AQ into Patrick’s AK.
Brian Sampson finished in 5th place as he got by Robbie’s set of 7s, while Bentley Louw was out in 6th as his pocket 3s were cracked by Ronica’s Q5.
Two bubble prizes were created for 7th and 8th, which were claimed by Francis Chetty and Jesse Cupido respectively.
WELL DONE WINNERS!
