Imraan “Immie” Khan showed off his skill in a grueling 25-min heads-up battle against Strini “Can’t Miss Tonight” Govender to take down Concept Poker League Midweek Game #3 at Goodwood Cricket Club on Wednesday.
Govender was running the show once final table dwindled down to the last six.
He starting building the big stack after taking down Chad Hughes’ QQ with KQ. After Govender opened the pot, Chad shoved, which got called off. The board ran K high to send the Goodwood Brawler to the rail.
Govender went on to eliminate three more players, including two in one hand.
Lauren Darvall (who ensured there was a woman at the final table for a third consecutive week) shoved her short stack with 66. Govender called in late position, only for Vicky Moodley to go all-in over the top with AK in the blinds. Govender called, showing 10s, which held up to send both players home, winning a massive pot.
After eliminating Ricardo “Keppies” Whitaker, who bowed out in third, Govender held a huge advantage over Immo. The two boxed it out, but surprisingly it was the latter who stole the momentum… building his way into a minor chip lead.
The game was settled when Strini shoved with 910, Immo calling with K8, which held up on a dry final board.
