Imraan “Immie” Khan joined the Concept Poker folklore by winning three consecutive league tourneys when he took down Game #5 at Goodwood Cricket Club on Wednesday night.
What a hot streak… Concept hasn’t seen one this hot since Jerome Hendricks’ five-in-row in 2016.
Immie’s victories occurred in huge fields of 51, 49 and more recently 50 players, which emphasises his top form in recent weeks. This includes winning a WPT Main Event seat in a field of 36 players at the Cape Town satellite a fortnight ago.
While he argues that luck played a big part of his Concept victory last week, his aggressive approach to the final stages of the tournament was key in securing the triple crown.
His regular raises put the short stacks under pressure. And with 16 players left, he also woke up with Aces in dealer position during an double all-in hand against 10s and Kings. And while Ikey’s Kings (the short stack) spiked a set on the river, Immie was still able to take a big stack to the final table shortly after.
The final table was a tight affair… but it was Imraan, Vickey Moodley, Jason Fried and Brett Vickerman who boxed their way to the end.
Eventually, it was Imraan Khan against Vicky in heads-up, which saw the former take it down with AK in the final hand.
