Gareth Duncan and Chris Hadzi took an equal share of the Top 2 prize money at the R600 Turbo on Thursday night.
It was a great and entertaining night of poker, with many magical rivers and bad beats as 47 players competed for a piece of the R28600 prize pool! Not too shabby for a R600 buy-in game.
Gareth and Chris were the last 2 standing, and with similar chip stacks, they decided to split the remaining prize money to earn R7500 apiece.
Gareth takes first place based on the bigger chip stack, he edged Chris 4.2million chips to 3.8million chips. Blinds were 150 000-300 000 at the time.
Gareth continues a rich run of form, having won a recent R600 Turbo and scored second place in the Cape Town Poker Open. Chris will be delighted with his cash, which will inspire a rise in the Concept Player of the Year rankings. Shoutout to our admin Jade Moodley who is working on this. Vicky Moodley finished in third place as he shoved the short stack with J7 suited on the button. He was called blindly by Chris, who opened Q2 ♥️ suited. The flop was Jack-high with 2 hearts, and the flush completed on the Turn to eliminate Vicky.
William Francis ended a dry spell on the tables as he finished in 4th place. He was out-kicked by Chris Hadzi, who had AJ on a dry board.
Aladdin De Beer ended a decent tournament in 5th place. He was all in with K8 ♦️ suited, but ran into big trouble as Chris and William joined the party in a three-way pot. William couldn’t connect his AQ ♥️ suited as Chris took down a massive pot with pocket Aces.
Bentley Louw couldn’t win momentum on final table as he shoved with A8. William Francis called with A9. The flop ran 687, which saw Bentley jump ahead, but William had many outs with the one over card and straight draw. The 9 hit on the Turn to score the elimination.
Two bubble prizes were created for 7th and 8th place, and this was taken by Bradley Jansen and URI Hartuv respectively as Gareth eliminated both players in quick succession.
