FRANKLIN BOMBS HIS WAY TO FIRST PLACE

Franklin Jodamus’ aggressive play paved the way to his victory at Concept Poker’s Midweek Game #6 at Goodwood Cricket Club on Wednesday night.

It was record night for Concept, as well as social poker in Cape Town, as a mammoth field of 80 players gathered in Goodwood for an entertaining night of poker. And many will agree it was full of action flops, bad beats and miracle rivers.

Whoever played on Franklin’s table will remember his random all-in plays. While this method is very risky, it helped him build a big stack going into final table.

The notable one being among the final three tables – 26 players left… he bombed all in under the gun with QJ off. He got three callers, one AQ and the other AK. The third player was a forced to call the bet with Q2 due to short stack in the blinds.

Franklin was in high spirits when the flop ran 3 9 10, giving him the up and down draw. The turn saw a jack, giving him the lead with top pair. And the rivered bricked for a massive 600 000 chip pot.

He continued his aggressive way on the final table, and eventually he, Clive Rhoode, Clint Solomons, Reza Slemang and Ethan Arendse reached the final 5.

The final hand in heads-up saw Franklin and Clive duel for top honours. They both shipped their chips on a 6c 7c 3h flop. Clive showed 85 off for a straight draw, while Franklin showed Q9 clubs for the flush draw. The turn and river bricked for both players, which saw Franklin win with Q high.

The next Concept Poker game will be on Wednesday, 27 March. We hope to see you there!
