Clifford Fortuin made the most knockouts on final table en route to winning the second Concept warm-up fixture of the year in Maitland on Thursday night.
We’re a few weeks away from the official start of the Concept Poker League, and already the poker action is heating up! On Thursday night, we had 54 entries into the warm-up tournament, which created a very healthy prize pool – not too shabby for Janu-worry month!
And Cliffy Fortuin was the player who was last man standing, recording several eliminations to take down first prize.
Final table report
9th place: Graeme Veldsman
The final table created two bubble prizes, which meant the final 9 all made the money. And Graeme Veldsman was the first elimination as he found himself in a three-way all in pot. He was unfortunate with Jacks as he ran into Cliffy’s Aces, while Shane Pillay was somehow involved with A4 ♦️ suited. The flop ran A48, which saw Cliffy take down the pot with top set.
8th place: Shane Pillay
After losing most of his chips in the previous hand, Shane was all in with K6. Cliffy called with AJ, and flopped the Ace to score the knockout.
7th place: Jeremy Quinton
Jeremy Quinton was running hot all night, hitting Flops, Turns and Rivers to build a stack. But he made one move too many when he was all in with K3 ♦️suited, and fell to Dale Mouton’s A8, which flopped an Ace.
6th place: Franklin Jodamus
5th place: Allan Renzani
Cliffy scored a double knockout with pocket Jacks against Allan’s pocket 8s and Franki’s K8. On a K10J K Q board, Cliffy’s full house reeled in a big pot.
4th place: Dale Mouton
Dale got short on chips, and found himself committed with 43 among the blinds. Cliffy called his minor all in with 87, spiking the 8 as Dale hit the rail.
3rd place: Patrick Perez
Patrick was on the verge of missing out on final table, but a few fortuitous double-ups saw him play his way onto the podium. The blinds got to him, as he exited with 8-high against Cliffy’s Jack-high.
2nd place: Lurenderin Naidoo
With the overwhelming chip stack, Cliffy was cruising. Lurenderin put up a fight, but couldn’t sway off the one-way momentum. Lurenderin was all in with bottom pair and an 8-high flush draw on a 10♠️6♠️3♠️ flop, only to find himself miles behind as Cliffy snap called with A5 ♠️ suited – the nut flush.
Well done to all the winners! The third Concept Warm-Up tournament will be on Thursday, 26 January 2020. Remember, the league officially kicks off on 13 February 2020.
