CAS DU TOIT TAKES TOP HONOURS

Cas du Toit,, Concept Poker

Cas du Toit took down first place at Concept Midweek Game #26 in Goodwood on Thursday.

Cas had perfect timing on the final table – having a patient approach early on before shifting into top gear towards the business end. He eliminated the final three players to enjoy his first triumph of the season.

And it was a tough tournament, which saw many ups and downs in a big field of 51 players.

The final 9 agreed to create bubble prizes for 8th and 9th, which meant the entire final table cashed.

Strini Govender was first man out on the final table as he went all in with QJ ♠️ suited. He got called by Preston Jonas, who held A2. The ace flopped, but the board. Strini a flush draw. Unfortunately, he couldn’t catch the flush to be eliminated in 9th.

Shane Solomons hit the rail in 8th as he was pot committed in the big blind. Vicky Moodley raised in early position, forcing Shane all in with 87. He was dominated by Vicky’s K8, which held up.

Stephen Estar suffered a bad beat with 10s as he played his hand soft preflop. After min-raising Under The Gun, the play folded to Clinton Reddy in the big blind, who called with 85 ♣️ suited. On a 2♦️3♣️4♣️ flop, Clinton checked before Stephen shipped, which received a snap call. Clinton turned the flush for the pot win, knocking out Stephen in 7th.

Gareth Duncan was next to hit the rail in 6th. He was pot committed in the big blind when Preston raised in early position. Gareth’s K8 was dominated by Preston’s KQ preflop, which scored the knockout when the queen flopped.

Reza Slemang, who’s been enjoying solid poker form in recent weeks, was out in 5th when his pocket 5s got trumped by Vicky’s pocket 7s.

Play began to loosen up, which saw Preston hit the rail in 4th. His beautiful 74 couldn’t improve on a dry board against Cas, holding AK.

Vicky was next to go in 3rd when his AQ missed the board in showdown against Cas’s pocket Js.

Clinton held the slender chip lead in the heads-up battle against Cas, and he nearly scored the win when he flopped an Ace in a massive all-in pot. But the board ran a wheel A23 4 5 for a miraculous split.

Cas then gained the momentum and took over the chip lead. He then trapped Clinton for the tournament victory.

Clinton raised preflop wit Qs, which saw Cas call with A4. Cas then sneakily checked his Ace on a A53 flop, which saw Clinton shove his stack. Cas called and held up for the victory.
