CLIFFY FORTUIN MAKES HIS CONCEPT MARK

Clifford Fortuin scores his first league points in style as he won Concept Midweek Game #11 at Goodwood Cricket Club on Thursday night.

Cliffy would’ve been aggrieved last week as he fell short of the final table with a decent stack among the final two tables.

However, he made sure he went one step better this week… going on to crush his opposition to first place.

Rachart Job was out in ninth as his pocket 2s was crushed by Strini Govender’s AJ. The chips went in preflop before the latter hit top two pair for the knockout.

But the chips moved from Strini quickly as Cliffy scored an important double up soon thereafter. His 10s were too much for Govender’s 6s, which changed momentum.

Gareth Duncan ended in 8th as his shove with A9 suited ♣️ in late position was bad timing. Witt the sizeable blinds turning the corner, the short stack made the move – but he got snapped called by Ikeraam Sauls on dealer position with AK before Dylan Hughes went all in over the top with Qs in big blind for three-way action. The big pocket pair held up, which sent Gareth to the rail.

Strini failed to recover from the previous damage as followed in 7th place. Cliffy finished the demolition job with KQ ♠️ suited, flopping the straight against Govender’s helpless A4 off.

Cas was out in sixth against Ikey’s trip aces. Cliffy then took all those chips by knocking out Ikey with AQ vs AJ on a dry board, which created a new chip leader on the table.

A big hand saw Gerhard Beukes and Cliffy battle in a blind vs blind pot. Both players had decent stacks on a 10 7 4 flop. Gerhard checked before Cliffy over bet with J4. Gerhard, who hit top pair, shipped with not much more on top, and was snapped called. The turn brought a 4 for trips and the river bricked to eliminate Gerhard in 4th – ironically.

Dylan Barnard then fell out in third, losing the last of his chips against Dylan Hughes’ pocket Aces.

Dylan and Cliffy agreed to flip to decide the winner, with the latter taking the crown… KQ was the defining hand.
