Robin Kayalsum and Reza Slamang were the big winners in the R600 Turbo #7 at Concept Social Poker Club on Thursday night.
Robin steals the headlines again with a 3rd major cash in the turbo format over the past 4 weeks.
He played his way to big pots and several knockouts, which set the platform for victory this week. Whether in front or behind, the cards just fell in Robin’s favour.
This gave him in the upper hand in the split at heads-up, which saw him earn R8800 for first place. This takes his total winnings on Thursdays to R22800 for 2023!
Reza was happy with second place in the deal that saw him take home R8200.
It was a good night for the CT veteran, who set up his big cash with some entertaining hands and plays.
Nico du Toit continued his impressive record at Concept live events with a third-place finish. Despite a nice double-up early on, he struggled to find the momentum he would’ve wanted on final table. He was eventually pot committed in the big blind and eliminated when Robbie spiked a Queen on the flop with Q4.
Dylan Hughes, who’s been crushing on PokerBros this week, continued his good form at the live event with a 4th place finish. He was racing QJ against Reza’s pocket 5s, and the small pair held up.
Ben Umbhau enjoyed a solid grind to 5th place. With an early position shove from Robbie, Ben decided to spin it up with Q8 in the big blind. Robin tabled AJ and spiked the Ace on the Turn to score the knockout.
Cliffy Fortuin ended in 6th place when he made a move UTG with 108, making a heavy all-in shove in attempts to steal the blinds. He unfortunately ran into Nico on the button, who called with AK and held up.
Ronald Napala made back-to-back final tables but unfortunately fell short of the major prizes. He suffered a bad beat with A9, which was good preflop against Robin’s J10. Robbie flopped gin, making trip Jacks on the flop before boating up on the River for a big pot win.
If Ronald makes final table next week to complete his hat-trick, he will earn a free buy-in into the following R600 Turbo event.
A few players have come close to achieving this feat, but so far, only Bentley Louw has done so this season.
Robin also scored an interesting double knockout during the early stages of final table. With blinds at 70000-150000-150000, Ashley Dudley shoved for 420 000 chips Under the Gun, which was followed Mike Harris’ all in on the button for 410 000. Robin completed for the discount in big blind. Ashley opened A9, Harris tables Queens while Robin made a value call with J3 ♣️ suited for 270 000 more.
The Jack flopped to spark some drama. And the 3 fell on the River to seal the double elimination.
Ashley finished in 8th ahead of Mike due to a bigger chip stack between the two players (even though the latter had a better hand with Queens versus Ace high).
WELL DONE WINNERS!
All in all, it was another entertaining and high-value tournament.
For three weeks in a row, the R600 Turbo has generated a R30k-plus prize pool and R10 000 for first place!
Due to demand, we will be running the next live event this Sunday.
We will be hosting a R800 Grind format, offering some entertains semi-deepstack poker.
Stay tuned for details.
