Michael Cupido finished in first place at the R800 Grind at Concept Social Poker Club on Sunday.
It was a full house in Maitland as 36 players filled the four tables set. This created a prize pool of R35200 on the day!
Michael, who won a seat via the Last Chance Satellite on PokerBros, was able to play himself to chip leader among the final 4. A deal was then negotiated, which saw him earn R8000 for gold.
Newcomer Divashen Nair had a rollercoaster ride on final table, but a few late double-ups saw him finish in second place to take home R7000.
Strini Govender played his way back from short stack to finish in third place, while Uri Hartuv followed his win in Thursday’s R600 Turbo with another decent cash. Both players agreed to R6500 in third and fourth respectively.
Clifford Fortuin finished in 5th place as he shoved with A7. He ran into Uri, who called with A9 and flopped the 9 to score the knockout.
Ian Timoney grinded well to continue his good recent form on the live scene. He unfortunately fell short of the major prizes in 6th place as his pocket 2s were cracked by Clifford’s AJ, which flopped a Jack.
Bubble prizes were created for 7th and 8th spots on final table, which were collected by Youshan Valloo and Ronica Chetty respectively.
Youshan enjoyed a decent tournament run, but he made a bad judgement call as he was trapped by Michael’s pocket Jacks. Mike was bullying the blinds from late position, and Youshan eventually shoved back with Q6 ♥️ suited. But Mike’s pair caught the chips on a dry board.
Mrs Chetty boxed with the short stack and was eventually all in with 54 ♠️ suited. She was called off by Cliffy, who flopped a King with KQ.
WELL DONE WINNERS!
