Tariro Vanderlinden, Francis Chetty and Reza Slamang were the big winners in the enjoyable R1000 Deepstacks Satellite on Saturday.
It was a cold and wet night in Cape Town, but 22 players showed up for the exciting slow grind tournament.
And while our heaters played an influential role in the room’s temperature control, there was plenty of heat on the tables, which created a prize pool of R28 200!
The Top 3 decided to split the bulk of the prizes, with Tariro the queen of the night in first place.
Mr Chetty and Reza completed the podium.
Imraan Khan and Clinton Reddy accepted R2000 Monte vouchers as bubble prizes in 4th and 5th place respectively.
Imraan lost his chips to Francis, who held a bigger high card on a dry board, while Clinton was all in with AQ against Tariro’s pocket Kings, which held up.
Concept newcomer Mustak Chothia enjoyed a deep run on debut but was the unfortunate bubble boy in 6th place. He was all in with AK and racing against Reza’s pocket 5s. The small pair held up.
Chris Gin enjoyed another Monte Satellite final table but found no reward in 7th place. He eas all in with Pocket 10s, but had bad timing as he ran into Mustak’s pocket Queens.
Herman Nelissen was out in 8th place as his A9 flopped a mid-pair 9, but was trumped by Clinton’s top pair of Jacks.
WELL DONE WINNERS!
